Missionary Mary D. Townsend is the District Missionary of the Old Landmark District (3rd in succession after District Missionary Joyce Lawson (resigned because of sickness) and then District Missionary Bessie Macklin (resigned because of relocation).  She was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan and was the fifth child out of 14 siblings born of her parents Forest and Kathleen Townsend.  In 1965 she married James Arthur Battle, III and to this Union was birthed four sons.   She graduated from South High School and went on to further her education by attending and graduating from Grand Rapids Junior College receiving an AA Degree in Criminal Justice.  She also attended and graduated from Aquinas College receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science in Grand Rapids, Michigan while being employed at 61st District Court as a Bailiff.  In 1993 our District Missionary  moved to Seattle, Washington and attended City University majoring in Marriage and Family Counseling. She also attended and graduated from Seattle University majoring and receiving her Certificate in Addictions Studies while employed with the King County Juvenile Court as a Deputy Court Clerk II.

While residing in Grand Rapids, Michigan she was a faithful member and Church Announcer for 21 years at Bethel Pentecostal Church under Bishop William C. Abney where she was baptized and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. After 21 faithful years she was lead to leave this church in good standing to go and work in the ministry with her brother Pastor Michael  Townsend at Together in Faith Ministries. Currently, District Missionary Townsend is a faithful member of Greater Glory Ministries COGIC  since her move to Washington State in 1993 under the pastoral leadership of another biological brother Superintendent Sam L. Townsend, Sr, DD/Washington State Jurisdictional Senior Administrator Assistant, as a Evangelist Missionary and now as his District Missionary.

In her spare time District Missionary Mary Townsend enjoys singing in the choir, 
listening to music,  reading and spending time with family and grandchildren.
