OUR DISTRICT MISSIONARY

Mary D. Townsend is the District Missionary of the Old Landmark District (3rd in succession after District Missionary Joyce Lawson (resigned because of sickness) and then District Missionary Bessie Macklin (resigned because of relocation).  

 

Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan she was the fifth child out of 14 siblings born of her parents Forest and Kathleen Townsend.  In 1965 she married James Arthur Battle, III and to this Union was birthed four sons.   In 1993 she moved to Seattle, Washington as a member of Greater Glory Ministries under the pastoral leadership of her biological brother Superintendent Sam L. Townsend, Sr, DD/Washington State Jurisdictional 2nd Administrative Assistant to Bishop Alvin C. Moore, Sr.

 

Under the Missionary Training of Mother Gwendolyn Lawson Townsend, she obtained her Deaconess Missionary License followed by obtaining her Evangelist Missionary license, and was later selected by Superintendent Townsend as the District Missionary of this Old Landmark District in Seattle, Washington

In her spare time District Missionary Mary Townsend enjoys singing in the choir, listening to music, reading and spending time with family.
